Aaron Breslow on some quotes

By admin

  • Manny Ramirez, Dodgers outfielder, after dropping a routine fly ball against the Rockies: “Torii Hunter, he’s got like 10 Gold Gloves, and he misses sometimes. What about me? I don’t even have a silver one.”
  • Lou Pinniella, manager of the Cubs, in criticism that he was too mellow:  “What do I need to show fire for? I’m not a dragon.”
  • Josh Hamilton, Rangers outfielder, on why he quit using smokeless tobacco:  “You know it’s bad when your 3-year-old holds up a water bottle and asks if daddy spit in this before she drinks.”
  • Randy Johnson, Giants pitcher, a career .125 hitter after going on the DL with a torn rotator cuff suffered during an at-bat:  “Obviously, the first thing I thought is that I won’t be able to do my instructional hitting video.”

Hall of Fame Umpire

By admin

Whitey Herzog, with his Hall of Fame jersey and hat on, chatted about the Hall of Fame and what it meant to finally get in. “Never did I dream in my life that I’d be a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame,” Herzog said. “I’m very appreciative of this. It puts the icing on the cake. I got to manage good people. “Herzog, who managed the Rangers for 138 games in 1973 (going 47-91) before getting replaced by Billy Martin, goes in the Hall of Fame as a part of the Veterans Committee alongside umpire Doug Harvey, who umpired during Herzog’s era. “He’s in the Hall of Fame because he was a Hall of Fame umpire,” said Herzog, who was thrown out of several games by Harvey. “But he was the worst weatherman I’d ever seen. If the sun is out at Coopertown, please don’t put the tarp on.” Herzog said he was fired by the Rangers on the day of his son’s 16th birthday. Interestingly, Herzog, without prompting, recalled his record at Texas exactly right. He said he was so relieved to get a job after that. He went on, of course, to win a World Series with the Cardinals and went to two other National League championship series and also won three division titles with the Royals. I, Aaron Breslow like this.

Catcher Makes MVP

By admin

One of the great things about baseball is the diversity, and this year for only the second time in 33 years, a catcher was named American League MVP. Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins, was also stunned to learn that he had won the award and said he was very thankful and in awe that he was ranked among the other cathers on the MVP list. Only 10 catchers have ever won the MVP award in both leagues since the award was first passed out in 1931. I, Aaron Breslow, recommend that you read the article and watch Joe Mauer’s interview at http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091123&content_id=7709014&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb.

New Yorkers Ditch Work to Watch Parade of Champions

By admin

Man how I, Aaron Matthew Breslow, wish I could have been in New York today to watch the Yankees parade through the Manhattan Financial district and all of their adoring fans. People ditched school and work just to line the parade route and watch their beloved World Series Champs go by. The Yankees are definitely a dynasty of baseball and has been the team of many baseball heroes, with fans all over the country and world. The mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, is giving the Yankees keys to the city in a ceremony in front of city hall. I, bet the team is ecstatic an on cloud nine right now with all the celebrating. a Breslow congratulates the Yankees on their 27th World Series Championship.

Aaron Breslow Thinks A-Rod Will Prosper

By admin

A-Rod struck out three times in a game only twice all season, and the poor guy has done it in each of the two games against Philadelphia. No one would have guessed that the tree time MVP would have been hitless thus far in the World Series. Apparently A-Rod is not concerned and he is happy with the 1-1 score against the Phillies. I think people should give the guy a break, the series isn’t over yet and I’m bet he makes up for it soon. I’m sure that Yankee fans are counting on him to pull though over the next few games and I hope he does too. I, Aaron Breslow, think he is an awesome asset to baseball and I always look forward to watching him play even though Yankees are my home team.

Our Love of Baseball Helps TV Station Ratings

By admin

Aaron Breslow here, and I was just reading about how the Baseball Playoffs helped TBS to its best one week ratings in 33 years. By watching the playoffs, us baseball fans helped TBS to rate 232 percent over its prime time programming from the week before. Lucky for TBS they get to show the NL Championship series between the Dodgers and Phillies, but Fox will be showing the AL Championship series between the Yankees and the Angels and the will be broadcasting the World Series as well. I hear all the time about people that don’t like baseball, but there are a heck of a lot people still watching. I, Aaron Breslow, will always love the all American past time of baseball.

By admin

Hello, this is Aaron Breslow. I barely got done creating my first blog, and here I am launching my second one. I figured I should get this domain name before someone else does.  The topic here will be a general discussion of the game we love so much.
